Football Recap: Hoover Takes a Loss

Hoover extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 2-6. They took a blow against the Burbank Bulldogs, falling 69-0. While losing is never fun, the Tornados can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 837th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 241st).

As for Burbank, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Deshawn Laporte continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 268 yards and seven touchdowns on only 19 passes, while also rushing for 111 yards on only eight carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Chase Miles was in the mix too, providing Burbank with two scores.

Coming up, Hoover will host Muir at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tornados will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least 31 points in their last five games. As for Burbank, they will venture away from home to face off against Glendale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Nitros' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
