Football Game Preview: Bay City Blackcats vs. Calhoun Sandcrabs + Official Tickets

The Bay City Blackcats will venture away from home to challenge the Calhoun Sandcrabs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Bay City was able to grind out a solid win over Jones, taking the game 30-23. Given the Blackcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 250th, while the Trojans are ranked 707th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bay City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was James Copeland out in front who rushed for 108 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries. Keimarion Wiggins was in the mix too, providing the Blackcats with two TDs.

Bay City's run defense was locked in: Jones could only muster 1.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Trevell Wells for the heroic effort on defense: he. Bay City didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.4.

Bay City's defense didn't let Tyler Lang, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Jones' QB won't forget Jordan Oneal anytime soon given he sacked him twice.

Meanwhile, Calhoun had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 35-31 W against the Ricebirds.

Calhoun now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Bay City, their record is now 7-2.

Bay City came out on top in a nail-biter against Calhoun in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, sneaking past 42-39. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Sandcrabs' Fischer Franck, who rushed for 201 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Blackcats to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
