Softball Recap: Springfield Takes a Loss

Springfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Clarksville on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 6-4. The Yellow Jackets just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Ella Shoulders was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Kinsley Pryor also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 3-8-1. As for Clarksville, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield will square off against Rossview at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rossview's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Springfield's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Clarksville, they will face off against Northeast at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
