Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Conway's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Conway posted their closest victory since December 6, 2024 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-48 win over the Myrtle Beach Seahawks. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers who have now won three games in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Conway to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trevon Johnson, who posted 12 points along with five boards and three steals. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tramaine Hunter, who put up 11 points and three steals.

Conway smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matchups.

Myrtle Beach's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Matthew Campbell, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 19 points and six steals, and John Simmons, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 boards. Campbell is becoming a predictor of Myrtle Beach's success: when he posts at least three steals the team is 4-2 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

Conway is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Myrtle Beach, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Conway will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against St. James at 7:30 p.m. Conway is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season. As for Myrtle Beach, they will head out on the road to take on Socastee at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Myrtle Beach is facing Socastee at the right time seeing as Socastee is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
