Softball Game Preview: Leopold Wildcats vs. Advance Hornets

The Leopold Wildcats will head out to face off against the Advance Hornets at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Advance took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Leopold, who comes in off a win.

It was a proper cat-fight when Leopold faced off against Meadow Heights on Tuesday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 19-9 margin over the Panthers. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by nine runs or more this season.

Piper Lincoln made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Lincoln was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Ava Jansen was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Katlyn Arnzen, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Advance came up short against New Madrid County Central on Tuesday, falling 13-3. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Leopold now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Advance, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.

Leopold might still be hurting after the 20-3 defeat they got from Advance in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
