Hedgesville faced Jefferson in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Eagles skirted past the Cougars 5-4. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won six matches in a row.
Landon Pence was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Pence was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base.
