Baseball Game Preview: Averill Park Warriors vs. Schalmont Sabres

The Averill Park Warriors will take on the Schalmont Sabres at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. Schalmont took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Averill Park, who comes in off a win.

Averill Park barely beat Saugerties the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 13-7 margin over the Sawyers on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Schalmont fell victim to Saratoga Central Catholic and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Saints, falling 10-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Sabres were not able to get on the board.

Schalmont has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9-1 record this season. As for Averill Park, their win bumped their record up to 11-8-1.

Averill Park skirted past Schalmont 17-16 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Sabres have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
