Softball Game Preview: Fairmont Firebirds vs. Centerville Elks

The Fairmont Firebirds will head out on the road to square off against the Centerville Elks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Fairmont is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

On Thursday, Fairmont came up short against Goshen and fell 10-6.

Carlee Netherton was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. Those doubles were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amy Osman, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Centerville also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Lancaster by a score of 7-2. The Elks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fairmont's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Centerville, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Fairmont skirted past Centerville 6-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Firebirds since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
