Football Recap: Monroe Area's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

After flying high against Apalachee last Friday, Monroe Area came back down to earth. The Purple Hurricanes fell 24-14 to the Walnut Grove Warriors on Friday. The Purple Hurricanes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Despite the loss, Monroe Area still got an impressive performance from Jitt Carr, who rushed for 114 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 carries. Carr is also crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Monroe Area fell to 3-1. As for Walnut Grove, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monroe Area will host Hart County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Purple Hurricanes are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Walnut Grove, they will welcome Cedar Shoals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The match will give the Warriors their first taste of in-conference action this season.
