Basketball Recap: Carnegie Has No Trouble Against Grandfield

Carnegie had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 21-point drubbing they dealt Grandfield on Saturday. Everything went the Carnegie Wildcats' way against the Grandfield Bearcats as the Carnegie Wildcats made off with a 60-39 win. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bearcats, too.

It was another big night for Duane Cavaness, who went 6 of 9 en route to 17 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ken Whittington, who posted ten points along with five assists and three steals.

Carnegie's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Grandfield, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carnegie will challenge Cordell at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Carnegie has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Grandfield, they will square off against Big Pasture at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
