Football Game Preview: Thomasville Bulldogs vs. Providence Grove Patriots

The Thomasville Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Providence Grove Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Thomasville was able to grind out a solid win over East Davidson, taking the game 28-16. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Cordell Moon was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 129 yards on only eight carries. Those 129 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Providence Grove got the win against Wheatmore on Friday by a conclusive 48-28. Considering the Patriots have won five contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Thomasville better focus on containing Jackson Lawver and Andrew Thomas as the pair were huge in Providence Grove's win. Lawver rushed for 116 yards and three TDs on only eight carries, while Thomas gained 153 total yards. Lawver's passing game has become a key predictor of Providence Grove's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.

Providence Grove was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 246 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 212 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.

One reason for the win was Providence Grove's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Nick Straughn, Chase Collins, and Conner Haithcock, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Thomasville now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Providence Grove, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
