Baseball Recap: Moriah Vikings vs. Warrensburg Burgers

Moriah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They suffered a rough 12-4 loss at the hands of the Warrensburg Burgers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Moriah of the 10-8 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2022.

Moriah saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Nephew, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

On Warrensburg's side, Louis Lang made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Lang was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Brady Cheney was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stolen at least one in the last three games he's played. Paul Moore was another key contributor, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Moriah's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Warrensburg, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-2.

Moriah will head out on the road to challenge Saranac Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Moriah is facing Saranac Lake at the right time seeing as Saranac Lake is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Warrensburg, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against North Warren Central at 4:30 p.m. Both teams have allowed few runs on average, (North Warren Central: 3.2, Warrensburg: 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
