Basketball Recap: Tyee Takes a Loss

Tyee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a blow against the Foster Bulldogs, falling 94-28. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 365th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 120th).

Tyee lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Arnav Kolluru, who posted 16 points. That was a full 57.1% of Tyee's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Malick Yusufu, who put up six points and seven boards.

Foster's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Khadar Abdullahi led the charge by going 10 of 11 on his way to 20 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks. Abdullahi continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Michael Hoston was another key player, going 7 for 11 en route to 18 points along with five assists and three steals.

Tyee's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Foster, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-6.

Tyee has already played their next match (against Lindbergh), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Foster has already played their next game, a 119-75 loss against Rainier Beach on the 29th.
