Softball Recap: East Bay Takes a Loss

East Bay came into this matchup off a tough 11-run defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Riverview Sharks by a score of 8-6 on Thursday. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Sharks recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Jensen Nelson was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Nelson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kamiira Austin, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

East Bay's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Riverview, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-5.

Coming up, East Bay will head out on the road to square off against Durant at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Riverview, they will welcome Plant City at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Sharks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season.
