Basketball Recap: Jay Extends Winning Streak to Two

Jay won the last time they faced Northview, and Tanner Mandell did his part to make sure it happened again. The Jay Royals enjoyed a cozy 60-46 win over the Northview Chiefs on Tuesday thanks in part to Mandell, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season.

Brady Godwin was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in steals (four).

Despite the loss, Northview saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Caleb Levins posted 16 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bryson Orso, who had nine points and five rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Jay and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Northview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Jay didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-47 defeat against New Brockton on the 13th. As for Northview, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 76-39 loss against W.S. Neal on the 13th.
