Softball Recap: Ida B. Wells' Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Ida B. Wells came out on top against Lincoln on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Guardians walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Cardinals. The win was nothing new for the Guardians as they're now sitting on three straight.

Sam Stevens made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Stevens was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Paladino, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double. Hayden Miramontes was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and one run.

Ida B. Wells kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

Ida B. Wells' victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Lincoln, they dropped their record down to 4-11 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Ida B. Wells will welcome Franklin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lincoln, they will challenge Roosevelt at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Roughriders have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
