Football Recap: Warren County Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Gordonsville

Warren County faced Gordonsville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Pioneers & Lady Pioneers managed a 13-7 victory over the Tigers. This was a revenge game for the Pioneers & Lady Pioneers: when they faced off against the Tigers back in March, they had to take a 27-19 loss.

The critical scores for Warren County came from Ariyanna Rippy and Chloe Wanamaker.

One reason for the win was Warren County's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Bri Taylor was especially locked on to Gordonsville's QB and sacked her twice.

The win made it two in a row for Warren County and bumps their season record up to 9-3. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 21 points in those games. As for Gordonsville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Warren County will face off against Cumberland County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pioneers & Lady Pioneers are facing the Jets at the right time seeing as the Jets are stuck on a three-game losing streak. Gordonsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
