Baseball Game Preview: Ritchie County Rebels vs. Poca Dots

The Ritchie County Rebels will take on the Poca Dots at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Poca took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Ritchie County, who comes in off a win.

Ritchie County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Notre Dame on Thursday as they made off with a 10-4 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Rebels as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Coltin Williams was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted over his last ten matchups. Zach Hartness was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Ritchie County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .565. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Poca scored first but ultimately less than Greater Beckley Christian in their contest on Friday. They fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 4-2. The Dots' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Nate Christian spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Poca saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Jones, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Nick Graley, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Ritchie County's victory bumped their record up to 2-22. As for Poca, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-13.

Ritchie County got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Poca by a conclusive 14-1 score. Do the Rebels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
