Baseball Recap: Nettleton Takes a Loss

Nettleton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They fell 7-3 to the Marion Patriots. If the Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 16-2 to the Patriots when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Maddox Hampton put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Nettleton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Marion, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Nettleton beat the Patriots by a score of 3-2 later that day.
