Basketball Recap: Austintown-Fitch's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Austintown-Fitch won the last time they faced Howland, and Marcel Finkley did his part to make sure it happened again. The Austintown-Fitch Falcons put the hurt on the Howland Tigers with a sharp 60-40 win on Friday thanks in part to Finkley, who went 8 for 16 on his way to 24 points. He also put up a block, which washis first of the season.

Jayden Wright was another key player, putting up six points. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (two).

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Darren Douglas, who posted ten points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Steven Bubon, who put up nine points.

With the victory, Austintown-Fitch broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-10. As for Howland, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

When Austintown-Fitch and Howland next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Austintown-Fitch will try to stop Washington's seven-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Austintown-Fitch is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Howland will square off against Boardman and their three-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
