Volleyball Recap: Watkins Memorial Warriors vs. Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets
If Watkins Memorial was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Zanesville last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets on Tuesday. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Yellowjackets recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Watkins Memorial started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-29, 25-20, 25-23, 25-19.
Morgan Cumbo paced Watkins Memorial's offense, picking up seven kills. Cumbo got some help from Ellah Bigham and her 24 assists. Finally, Adalyn Rhodes kept Watkins Memorial's defense grounded, leading the team with six blocks.
