Softball Recap: Bronson Comes Up Short

Bronson fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Branford on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Buccaneers by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buccaneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in February.

Julianne Lampton spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Amelia Ayala made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Makenna Dean, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Bronson's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Branford, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Bronson will face off against Bell at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Branford, they will challenge Williston at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
