Softball Recap: North Lincoln Victorious

North Lincoln was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged out the North Iredell Raiders 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted against the Raiders since March 18, 2022.

Maysen Reames spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, Peyton Furr was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aniston Moore, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

North Lincoln was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for North Lincoln and bumps their season record up to 9-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for North Iredell, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

North Iredell didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-3 defeat against Bunker Hill on the 26th. Hopefully North Lincoln payed attention to North Iredell's game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on North Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
