Basketball Recap: Hempstead Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Hempstead won the last time they faced Washington and things went their way on Friday too. The Hempstead Mustangs strolled past the Washington Warriors with points to spare, taking the game 70-51. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Mustangs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while the Warriors are ranked 104th).

Hempstead's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5. As for Washington, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.

Hempstead will head out to challenge Xavier at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. As for Washington, they will take on Waterloo West at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington is facing Waterloo West at the right time seeing as Waterloo West is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
