Basketball Recap: Emily Kacinski's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Goreville over Trico

Goreville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 63-38 to the Trico Pioneers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pioneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-44 back in December of 2024.

Several Blackcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emily Kacinski, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards. Kacinski is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted four or more in the last three games she's played. Lydia Kwiatkowski was another key player, putting up 11 points and eight rebounds.

Goreville's loss dropped their record down to 2-22. As for Trico, their win bumped their record up to 15-9.

Coming up, Goreville will venture away from home to square off against Carterville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Trico, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 37-34 defeat against Chester on the 11th.
