Recap: Muskogee Roughers vs. Stillwater Pioneers
After a string of six wins, The Muskogee Roughers''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 30-20 to Stillwater. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Muskogee in their matchups with Stillwater: they've now lost three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Muskogee lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jamarian Ficklin. Despite the final result, he rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 245 yards and a touchdown while completing 74.1% of his passes. Ficklin has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stillwater to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chance Acord, who rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 211 yards and a touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes. Talon Kendrick was in the mix as well, providing Stillwater with two touchdowns.
Muskogee's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Stillwater, their victory was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 8-2.
