Basketball Recap: Henry Rassmussen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Shipley over Abington Friends

After flying high against Gloucester Catholic two weeks ago, Shipley came back down to earth. Shipley fell 57-49 to Abington Friends on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for Shipley in their matchups with Abington Friends: they've now lost four in a row.

Shipley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Henry Rassmussen, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Another player making a difference was Stevie Maniatis, who posted 12 points.

Even though they lost, Shipley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Shipley's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Abington Friends, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-6.

Shipley will look to defend their home court on Friday against Westtown at 6:30 p.m. Shipley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season. As for Abington Friends, they will challenge Abraham Lincoln at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
