Basketball Recap: Hiwassee Dam Comes Up Short

Hiwassee Dam was the 73-72 winner over Swain County when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Hiwassee Dam Eagles opened the new year with a less-than-successful 69-59 defeat to the Swain County Maroon Devils. The Eagles' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Hiwassee Dam's record now sits at 6-4. As for Swain County, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hiwassee Dam will square off against Hayesville at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hiwassee Dam is facing Hayesville at the right time seeing as Hayesville is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Swain County, they will challenge Mitchell at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
