Bedford starts season with win at home

Bedford took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday (and then some). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bishop Carroll Huskies a 15-0 shutout. This was payback for Bedford, who suffered a 6-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Emily Pratt was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Pratt was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and a double.

In other batting news, Leah Nee and Bailey Mickle did most of the damage at the plate: Nee went 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and a triple, while Mickle scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Greta Nicodemus, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Coincidentally, Bedford and Bishop Carroll will both be playing Central Cambria the next time they take the field. Bedford will head out to face Central Cambria at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Bishop Carroll will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
