Softball Recap: Cape Fear Has No Trouble Against Seventy-First

Cape Fear never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over the Seventy-First Falcons. The victory continues a trend for the Colts in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won nine in a row.

McKinley Kolasa made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addie Davis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Kayleigh Brewington also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Cape Fear kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Cape Fear's record is now 12-3. As for Seventy-First, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cape Fear beat the Falcons by a score of 23-0 later that day.
