Softball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Avon Grove's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Avon Grove was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Unionville on Monday. The Red Devils never let the Longhorns get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Elle Burns, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Unionville off the board. Burns has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Avon Grove's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gabby Beltran, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Keaton Krech, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Avon Grove is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Unionville, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.

Avon Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Unionville, they will square off against Marple Newtown at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fightin' Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so the Longhorns' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
