Baseball Game Preview: Port Charlotte Pirates vs. Sarasota Sailors

The Port Charlotte Pirates will face off against the Sarasota Sailors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Port Charlotte fell victim to Bishop Verot and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 15-0 to the Vikings. The Pirates have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Sarasota entered their tilt with Lakewood Ranch on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Mustangs. That's two games straight that the Sailors have won by just one run.

Jack Mohrmann looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Patrick Drymon was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny Lackaff, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Sarasota pushed their record up to 19-4-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.6 runs across that stretch. As for Port Charlotte, their loss dropped their record down to 9-14.
