Softball Recap: Decatur Eisenhower Comes Up Short

Decatur Eisenhower extended their losing streak to nine on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-17 in the process. They came up short against the Glenwood Titans, falling 20-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 15-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Glenwood, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.

For Glenwood's part, Jenna Hazard made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Hazard has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Taryn Jankousky was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Taryn Griffith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Decatur Eisenhower does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Glenwood, they will square off against Centennial at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Chargers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.06 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
