Softball Recap: Indio Drops Highest Score of Season Against Coachella Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Indio). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Coachella Valley Mighty Arabs a 13-0 shutout on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Rajahs in their matchups with the Mighty Arabs: they've now won four in a row.

Alyssa Perez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jaeda Diaz was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Jaslynn Garcia also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

The victory got Indio back to even at 9-9. As for Coachella Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Indio will welcome Yucca Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rajahs will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups. As for Coachella Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Twentynine Palms at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Mighty Arabs surely won't give up without a fight.
