Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Lightning vs. Ankeny Centennial Jaguars

The Liberty Lightning will be home for the holidays to greet the Ankeny Centennial Jaguars at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece dating back to last season.

Last Thursday, Liberty was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 59-53 to Iowa City.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jerimiah Washpun, who posted 17 points in addition to six boards and five assists. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in steals (two). Another player making a difference was Brady Randall, who had 11 points in addition to five boards and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Ankeny Centennial was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 58-57 to Urbandale.

Ankeny Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-3.
