Baseball Recap: Lakeland Takes a Loss

Lakeland lost against Honesdale back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Chiefs took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hornets. The Chiefs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Justin King was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Lakeland is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-2 otherwise.

At the plate, Evan Lonzinski made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kody Miller, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Lakeland's record is now 3-3. As for Honesdale, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record.

Looking ahead, Lakeland will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Mid Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Honesdale, they will venture away from home to face off against Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Hornets surely won't give up without a fight.
