Softball Recap: Frontier Takes a Loss

Frontier dropped their record down to 12-10 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Centennial Golden Hawks by a score of 2-1. Titans fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Golden Hawks since on Wednesday.

Taylor Sloss spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Keira Edwards made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

As for Centennial, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

On Centennial's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Andersen, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

While Frontier had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
