Basketball Recap: Archbishop Carroll Lions vs. Bishop O'Connell Knights
The Archbishop Carroll Lions came into Tuesday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They enjoyed a cozy 57-39 win over Bishop O'Connell on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Archbishop Carroll also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Archbishop Carroll was led to victory by Heidi Williams and Nyair McCoy. Williams dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds, while McCoy scored 17 points along with eight steals and seven assists. McCoy has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Tiayo Adelekan was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Archbishop Carroll's win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Bishop O'Connell, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.
Archbishop Carroll will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Knights at 6:00 p.m. St. Mary's Ryken will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 40th in Maryland, while the Lions are ranked tenth in District of Columbia). As for Bishop O'Connell, they will head out on the road to take on the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Our Lady of Good Counsel focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
