League recap: Manatee extends winning streak with victory over Vero Beach

Adding to the longest winning streak in 8A District 7 this week, Manatee beat Vero Beach 34-28. This was the team's 11th consecutive win.

Riverview lost to Central 45-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Manatee's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Joshua Meyer threw for 63 yards and Kelvin McKnight had 16 yards receiving. On the ground Trevon Walters chipped in 279 yards. Johnnie Lang helped Manatee's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 16 yards.

Joe Kinnan's team's dynamic duo of Meyer and McKnight proved to be unstoppable against the Indians, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lang helped Manatee's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 16 yards.

Walters was a beast in the backfield as the Hurricanes topped Vero Beach.

Walters provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Manatee bested Lenny Jankowski's team. Walters' favorite target this week was McKnight, who caught 2 passes for 16 yards.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Palm Harbor University's Tyler Kaminski and Dominick Bonelli have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Kaminski has thrown for 1,430 yards this season, while Bonelli has 37 catches for 639 yards. Walters from the Hurricanes leads the league in rushing with 1,603 yards.

Manatee and the Indians played the closest game in the league this week, with Manatee eventually emerging with a 34-28 victory. Walters ran for 279 yards during the win.
