While Marian Catholic might've come up empty on Saturday, Matt Gonzalez wasn't going down without a fight. Gonzalez struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and not a single walk). The performance also marked the fewest walks (zero) he has had since back in March.

Gonzalez and Marian Catholic will head out to face off against Nazareth Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans will be headed into this one with a sizable disadvantage in the rankings (they're ranked 249 places lower in Illinois), but they're not letting that get them down.
