Softball Recap: Newberry Find Success

Newberry won the last time they faced Dixie County and things went their way on Monday too. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Bears 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Madison Rodgers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Chloe Jones was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Aubrey Mattson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

Newberry hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dixie County struck out six times.

Newberry's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Dixie County, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Newberry has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Bronson on the 7th. As for Dixie County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-4 victory against Taylor County on the 7th.
