Football Recap: Berry Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Berry was the 31-13 winner over Ashbrook when they last played one another back in February of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Cardinals were beaten by the Greenwave 54-7 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 290th, while the Greenwave are ranked 74th).

Malachai Rowley threw for 106 yards and one TD. Elijah Britt was his top target, picking up 36 receiving yards.

Savion Lindsay was nothing short of spectacular for Ashbrook: he rushed for 152 yards and three scores on only 11 carries. Those 152 rushing yards gave Lindsay a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aj McClain, who threw for 46 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Berry dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Ashbrook, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berry will venture away from home to face off against Rocky River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ashbrook, they will square off against Northwest Cabarrus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
