Softball Recap: Santa Clara Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Santa Clara, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Foothill Tech Dragons by a score of 5-2 on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-0 two weeks ago.

Kadyn Sanchez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Santa Clara saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Romero, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Mia Gomez, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Santa Clara's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Foothill Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Looking ahead, Santa Clara will head out on the road to take on Fillmore at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Flashes will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Saints surely won't give up without a fight. As for Foothill Tech, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 18-1 defeat against Grace on the 8th.
