            Softball Recap: Mt. Mansfield Cougars vs. Middlebury Tigers        
        
		
        
        
            Mt. Mansfield was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Monday as the team picked up their 19th straight  defeat  dating back to last season. They came up short against  the Middlebury Tigers, falling  13-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the  7-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in May of 2024.

 Addie Gillilan was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She  struck out seven batters over  seven innings while giving up  three earned  (and ten unearned) runs off   ten  hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  tossed less than seven  strikeouts any time she's  pitched this season. She was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in two of her three plate appearances with three  stolen bases and one  run.
 Gillilan wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Tavia Smith-Muodownik, who  went a perfect 3-for-3 with one  stolen base.
Mt. Mansfield's record is now 0-4. As for Middlebury, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Mansfield will square off against Essex at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Middlebury, they will face off against Enosburg Falls at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday.
