Football Recap: Centerville Elks vs. Carmel Greyhounds
Centerville extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were beaten by the Carmel Greyhounds 48-0. The Elks lost against the Greyhounds in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 44-23 score last time.
As for Carmel, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked third in Indiana, while Centerville is ranked 45th in Ohio) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Anthony Coellner had a dynamite game, throwing for 215 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushing for 49 yards and one score. Jacob Bellin did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 125 receiving yards.
Coming up, Centerville will be playing at home against Fairmont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Elks' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Carmel, they will head out to face off against Trinity at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
