Preview: Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles vs. Ygnacio Valley Wolves
Clayton Valley Charter is 6-0 against Ygnacio Valley since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles will be playing at home against the Ygnacio Valley Wolves at 7:00 p.m. Clayton Valley Charter will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
Last Wednesday, Clayton Valley Charter beat Miramonte 57-46. Given Clayton Valley Charter's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Miramonte is ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clayton Valley Charter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chase Robertson, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Robertson scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Vince Ellis, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Ygnacio Valley can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent match on Wednesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 86-42 win over Concord. The victory was familiar territory for Ygnacio Valley who now have five in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ygnacio Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Evan McKnight, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. McKnight hasn't dropped below two blocks for six straight games. Antonio Kellogg Jr was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Clayton Valley Charter has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Ygnacio Valley, their win bumped their record up to 15-5.
Everything came up roses for Clayton Valley Charter against Ygnacio Valley in their previous matchup back in February of 2017 as the team secured a 84-38 win.
