Baseball Recap: Deltona Comes Up Short

Deltona was the 3-1 winner over Tampa Prep when they last played one another back in March of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Deltona took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tampa Prep on Thursday. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Deltona got a good showing from Mario Vega, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Cole Goodnoe and Jay Albizu stepped up to the plate in a big way. Goodnoe went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI, while Albizu scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two hits gave Goodnoe a new career-high.

Deltona's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Tampa Prep, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-8.

Deltona has already played their next game (against Lyman), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Tampa Prep, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 11-1 loss against Seminole on the 21st.
