Softball Recap: Chicago Academy Takes a Loss

Chicago Academy had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-11 to make it six. They came up short against the Von Steuben Panthers, falling 19-1. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly 18 runs.

As for Von Steuben, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

For Von Steuben's part, Sophia Hernandez was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and four runs. That home run was Hernandez's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Skye Rojek, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Chicago Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Von Steuben, they will head out to take on Lincoln Park at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
