Recap: Crisp County Cougars vs. Carver Tigers
The Crisp County Cougars suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They suffered a tough 71-51 loss at the hands of Carver. While losing is never fun, Crisp County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while Carver is ranked 46th).
Despite the defeat, Crisp County had strong showings from Jaylon Cooper, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and five assists, and Zakariyya Dwight, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cooper has scored all season.
Leading Carver to victory were Tony Montgomery and Jakobe Caslin. Montgomery scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Caslin dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Montgomery hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Ashton Thomas was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Crisp County has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Carver, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 15-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crisp County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Turner County at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Carver won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Thomasville at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th. Thomasville is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
