Soccer Game Preview: Holy Ghost Prep vs. Pennsbury

The Holy Ghost Prep Firebirds will face off against the Pennsbury Falcons at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Holy Ghost Prep fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Conestoga on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pioneers by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, Holy Ghost Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania soccer rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Conestoga are ranked 15th).

Meanwhile, Pennsbury fell victim to Council Rock South and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Hawks. Pennsbury have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Pennsbury's loss dropped their record down to 8-7-2. As for Holy Ghost Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7-4.

Holy Ghost Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against Pennsbury in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Firebirds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
